The Legal Aid and Consultation Institute (LKBH) Faculty of Law Unsyiah held a Scientific Expert Meeting Forum in the form of a Focus Group Discussion

Syiah Kuala University (Unsyiah) through the Government Science Research Center (PRIP) Syiah Kuala University and the Legal Consultation and Aid Institute (LKBH) Faculty of Law, Syiah Kuala University, Thursday 25 April 2019. Organizing an Expert Meeting Scientific Forum activity in the form of a Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The activity took place from 09.00 WIB to 12.30 WIB.

The scientific forum activity this time with the theme "Optimizing the Role and Institutional Strengthening of the Aceh Truth and Reconciliation Commission (KKR) as a Special Regional Institution". The activity was held in the Senate Hall of the Rector of Syiah Kuala University, Darussalam, Banda Aceh City.

The resource persons who were invited to the event were, from the academics, Prof. Dr. Syahrizal Abbas, MA, Prof. Dr. Hamid Sarong, Dr. Iskandar A. Gani, S.H., M.Hum, Dr. Azhari, S.H., MA., MCL, Saifuddin Bantasyam, S.H., MA, Zainal Abidin, S.H., M.Si., M.H, M. Adli Abdullah, S.H., P.h.D, Muhammad Heikal Daudy, S.H., M.H, Dr. Hasanuddin Yusuf Adan, MA, Mawardi Ismail, S.H., M.Hum, Dr. Otto Syamsuddin, Khairani, S.H., M.Hum, Hesphynosa Resfa, S.H., M.H, Suraiya Kamaruzzaman, LL.M.

The Chancellor of Syiah Kuala University, represented by the Vice Chancellor II of Syiah Kuala University, Dr. Ir. Agussabti said that the Expert Meeting activity in the form of a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was a form of dedication to responsibility and concern as well as the quick response of Syiah Kuala University.

"Through the Government Science Research Center (PRIP) Unsyiah and the Legal Consultation and Assistance Institute (LKBH) of the Faculty of Law, Syiah Kuala University to participate and play an active role in taking part in resolving various legal polemics that occurred in the Aceh Region," said Dr. Ir. Agussabti.

In addition, he continued, the Expert Meeting activity in the form of an FGD was a manifestation of one of the dharmas of three dharmas of higher education, namely, Community Service.

"Besides simultaneously carrying out 2 other higher education dharmas, namely Research and Education," concluded the Deputy Chancellor II of Syiah Kuala University, Dr. Ir. Agussabti.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the organizer Kurniawan S, S.H., LL.M said that the purpose of holding the Expert Meeting in the form of a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was, for Syiah Kuala University to take part in strengthening peace in Aceh.

"The Aceh Truth and Reconciliation Commission (KKR) institution which is the mandate of the MoU peace agreement between the Government of Indonesia and the Free Aceh Movement (GAM)," he said.

Kurniawan added that the Aceh KKR Institution can carry out its duties and responsibilities in encouraging reconciliation, including rehabilitation and restitution.

"The victims of human rights violations that occurred in Aceh are a manifestation of Law Number 11 of 2006 concerning the Government of Aceh as well as a derivation of the mandate of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia as the State Constitution," said Kurniawan. Kurniawan added that the Aceh KKR Institution can carry out its duties and responsibilities in encouraging reconciliation, including rehabilitation and restitution.

For that, said Kurniawan, we must strengthen the Aceh TRC institutions in terms of roles and authorities, including budgeting.

"Institutions are part of the goals, ideals, and national interests to take part as well as actively participate in realizing peace, both world peace and especially territorial peace (NKRI), and realizing prosperity for all Indonesian people," concluded Kurniawan, who is also a permanent lecturer. at the Faculty of Law, Syiah Kuala University.
