The location of the shooting of the cleric and the Chancellor of IAIN Ar-Raniry, Prof. Safwan Idris, at his residence in the Darussalam area, Banda Aceh. The incident occurred on September 16, 2000. From the information from the police and the family, two perpetrators came to Safwan's house at around 06.45 WIB. They used a motorcycle, and the perpetrator pretending to be a student, estimated to be 25 years old, was ushered into the living room by the deceased's wife. Not long after, the man shot Safwan in the neck and jaw. Safwan Idris immediately fell and died on the spot.
